WEEE's full name is Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment. In order to improve the management environment of waste electronic and electrical equipment, promote economic circulation, improve resource efficiency, and process and recycle electronic products at the end of their life cycle, the European Union promulgated the first WEEE Directive (Ddirective2002 96 EC) in 2002, requiring sellers to process and recycle the waste electronic and electrical products they sell. Later, a new directive was promulgated in 2012 and required all EU countries to independently implement Directive 2012 19 (WEEE Directive) into national law. Therefore, the WEEE code cannot be used universally in all countries. Germany accordingly launched ElektroG to regulate the recycling of all electronic and electrical products in Germany.
