WEEE全称Waste Electricaland Electronic Equipment，废弃电子电气设备。In order to improve the management environment of waste electronic and electrical equipment, promote economic circulation, improve resource efficiency, and process and recycle electronic products at the end of their life cycle, the European Union promulgated the first WEEE Directive (Directive 2002 96 EC) in 2002, requiring sellers to process and recycle the waste electronic and electrical products they sell. The French Environmental Code transformed the EU's WEEE Directive into domestic law in 2014, clarifying recycling requirements for electronic and electrical equipment sold in France.
Article R543-177 of the French Environmental Code stipulates that any manufacturer, importer or distributor must put a crossed out bin sign on all electrical and electronic equipment, batteries or batteries placed on the market.
